~Our Father's Day, and Sunday~

We had a good Father's Day Sunday! Phillip got the idea to bring a quick snack to feed our church people (since they are so poor) after both services today. So we hauled bread, spread, and ham for sandwiches, chips, drink, and my homemade oatmeal and apple cookies. Since we had AN EXTRA suitcase for the food, plus 4 plastic bags of food, the other suitcase with hymnbooks, plus the piano, and stand too, we decided to get a taxi on the way to church Sunday morning, rather than walk the mile to take the already crowded bus. Here is all we were carrying.

We had a good morning service, and there were 2 other Daddy's besides Phillip. Phillip gave them each a nice, heavy-duty extension cord for their Father's Day gift...and they were THRILLED!

Phillip preached a good sermon on being a good Father, and then after church, we served the snack that we brought. Everyone was VERY HAPPY with, and Appreciated the snack. Kimberly and another young lady counted the offering, but left it in the basket like they usually do. WHILE WE WERE SERVING THE FOOD, SOMEONE STOLE MONEY OUT OF THE OFFERING PLATE! HOW SAD!!! Stealing God's money...that POOR people that have nothing, sacrificed to give. So, we'll have to have whoever counts and records the offering to bring it to Phillip right away, so that doesn't happen again! After church, Diana (the 19 year old that lost her baby) gave me a gift...a cute pair of Warm, soft gloves. You see, both of our churches are in the MOUNTAINS...probably 12,000 ft. above sea level, so at nights it is VERY CHILLY up there! I'm' thrilled with my gloves. We've invited Diana and her girl to meet us at a park for a picnic this next Friday...to reach out to her. Please pray for Diana, that God will save and help her. She's so sweet! Then, we took a bus home, and ate yummy Skyline chili (minus the 3" of WONDERFUL CHEDDAR CHEESE =) and ate some of the "DAD" cake that the girls and I made for Phillip yesterday. ~I'm not a cake decorator...I make FAST cakes, so I can spend more time on baking the rolls, setting the table pretty, etc. =) But, I saw this cake on on the website "familyfun" and thought it looked fun to do. They didn't icing the sides of their letters, so I didn't either...but it probably would have looked cuter if I would have! Kimberly enjoyed helping me decorate it. (You just bake your cakes in one round and one square pan. Cut the round cake in HALF for your 2 "D's" and cut a triangle out of your square cake for the "A"!) Phillip liked his cake, and thought it was yummy too. =)~

~Excuse Phillip's jacket...he told me he was looking sort of frumpy. BUT, YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN WE COME HOME FROM OUR CHURCHES, WE HAVE TO STRIP IN THE GARAGE...FOR IF WE WEAR OUR CLOTHES INTO THE HOUSE AND UPSTAIRS, THE FLEAS THAT ARE ON OUR CLOTHES (FROM THE 1,000'S OF DOGS AROUND OUR CHURCHES) JUMP INTO OUR BEDS...AND BITE THE KIDS FOR SEVERAL W-E-E-K-S! UGH!!! =0 ~

The girls also made him some CUTE cards. We bought a cheap, charcoal grill for our family, (and for Phillip for Father's Day!)
Tonight on the way to church in the bus, we saw a SAD accident that had happened between a bus, and a taxi, then right down the road, a taxi and a motorcycle had collided too. EEEK!! We got to church, and no one came for the first little while, then THANK THE LORD 4 people came to church. (We normally run in the 20's or so.) God gave us a good service, and there was one other Father present, besides Phillip. This man and his daughter are VERY faithful to church, and she attends our school. He was BEYOND HAPPY with the extension cord gift.

I was sad that our church kids weren't there for the "BREAD OF LIFE" AND THE BREAD (Sandwiches) and snack that we were going to give them after church. But, the 5 people that ate the snack (and our family of 5 made 10) were VERY THANKFUL for the snack.

Then a girl snuck and invited us to her house to surprise her Dad and eat cake with their family to celebrate Father's Day for her Father. So, we did, and we had a good time with them. They are very sweet. We found out that they make and sell furniture, (the Dad ALWAYS has hands that are stained RED from varnishing furniture...which at first when we saw his hands...we thought that it was blood...=), and his wife makes and sells CUTE stuffed animals!

Thank the Lord, we were able to get a RARE bus that goes right beside our house, so we didn't have to walk the mile home tonight, with ALL OF OUR THINGS! YEA! We had a good, LONG day, and now...PRAISE THE LORD...we are going to bed. =) Thanks for y'all's prayers!

I still can't get over how much you have to carry to church everytime you go, now I read of fleas! God Bless You!
What is the temp. like there? In Cincinnati it is in the 90's, so it is hard to imagine wearing coats!

We saved Philip a Shirt that we gave out for Fathers Day. I will have a picture of it on my blog as soon as I can.

Yet another interesting "Monday Morning Report", Heather! You should really save these and put together a journal someday of all your Monday reports!

I thought your husband might like to know that I used his blog to strike fear and hopefully some gratitude in the hearts of my kiddos last week! My Sophie was complaining about the dinner she was being served, and being very un-grateful. So, I remembered that I had checked out your Phillip's blog on the day he had that HIDEOUS story with pics of the soup! On a whim, I brought the kids over to the computer and showed them, along with a little pep talk on gratitude and third world poverty. They say a picture is worth a thousand words---my kids are still talking about that cow's foot soup. And it's HILARIOUS hearing them try to describe what Mommy showed them to others!

So thanks for the object lesson!

Have a great week!

My sweetheart children giving their all for Jesus and His cause again. Noah standing by his daddy with the cards & cake is cute. Love in the handmade cards from the sweet girls is irreplaceable. And, all of your combined work & giving for each other, and for your church people is true love. I appreciate it all with my whole heart. Love, Mom/Dad Dickinson
