With all the talk today of "Shabby Chic" (Usually white, but old, or a little worn)...furniture, picture frames, etc. I have to tell you of my WONDERFUL FIND!! The other night, the NIGHT BEFORE THE TRASH PICK-UP, our family was walking past someone's trash and we saw a seperate bag with 2 Big picture frames in them, and so I snagged them (YES, I DUG IN THE TRASH, DADDY!) We got them home, and one has glass and is about a 8x10 size, and the other is bigger, and had no glass, but still works out fine for me. They were "SHABBY CHIC" for sure...probably a tad more SHABBY than the norm...but I'm happy. You see, I had no frame for Daddy's "Words You Love to Hear" that he printed off for me...and I cannot find big frames at the stores. So, I cut pretty scrapbooking paper and placed it around the "WORDS" and it turned out CUTE! I used the other frame to frame a pic of Sarah in her graduation cap and gown. I'm happy with my SHABBIER THAN "SHABBY CHIC" frames. =)
(I got another nice email from a dear friend in CANADA last evening, saying that they and others helped my parents finish loading my parents truck and trailer and they left CAN. last night. So, Lord willing they should arrive in Westfield, IN some time today...Wednesday, or tomorrow...Thursday! I am soooo glad for the dear church people of Kingston that helped Daddy and Moma, when we could not and wanted to sooo badly! Praise God for answering that prayer! Please continue to pray for them to have a safe trip. That's a lot of miles to cover with a large truck pulling a trailer. THANKS!)

So glad to hear "Mom and Dad" got off OK. And thanks to the people who helped them. Love your picture frames, reminds me of Massachusetts, or somewhere in the New England states, huh, Heather?
We are thrilled to hear of your parents being in our neck of the woods. Your Mother is our first pick for a speaker at our Ladies Christmas get together.
I have a few distressed items of my own. ha Actually I love the shabby chic look but it seems like my house is just simple with no particular style. It leans on the dressy, traditional side (when it is cleaned up :) Someday I will have to post pics. Most rooms have some touch of my parents. They were into basket weaving, oil painting, wood working and now it is motorcycle riding.
I can share your joy in the picture frames! I've gotten lovely things out of the trash more than once! When I was a kid, we lived very close to a floral supplier...they provided flowers to all the local florists. They had a huge dumpster on the back of their property and my friends and I would "dumpster dive" and find loads of bouquets...especially after Mother's Day, or Valentines Day. they were even packaged in dozens...still lovely. We used to have the most fun passing those flowers out to people. One person's trash is another person's treasure.
I also loved the skirts you all made. I guess Lauren isn't too young to learn to sew...she's 7. How old are your girls? I intend to teach her....one of these days :) Right now, she's been begging for a "sampler" like Felicity does in the American Girl books. Maybe we'll start there and tackle the machine sewing later. I enjoy your blog!
Love the frames!! So glad your parents got off and hope all goes well on their trip. I am sure that the church people in Westfield are anxiously awaiting their arrival. I guess that means I will possibly get to see them at our camp in August if we get to go!!
You are one creative young lady.
While attending UBC, we would walk to the Union Friends Church for Wednesday night prayer meetings on occasion. They are dear people. That church holds some memories for me. I think your mom and dad will fit in well there.
The frames look great...I've done my share of "dumpster diving." You can find some of the best things at yard sales, other peoples' trash heaps, even at the county DUMP! It's sometimes unbelieveable what people throw away.
We're looking forward to seeing your parents at campmeeting in August. I'm praying they made it safely into Indiana.
Really cool frames..gotta love a true bargain!:)
Thankful your parents had help and will soon be in the new place!
Such a good oppourtunity w/your market friend..you have obviously shown warmth and friendship to her...and now here is another life just wanting to be touched. Love to All!
Heather, I love the find! No matter how shabbie the frames were you made them beautiful! Also, it is nice to know that your parents have lots of people that will help them when the children are unable to. God knew your desire to be there to help and He took care of them! Love, Michelle J
