~Fun Food Friday...Coffee Bonbon's~

You know you are having a GOOD day when one of your 5 children asks you, "Mommy, were there cars around when you were a kid?" =D
I made these cookies last night and they were a yummy light cookie, similar to a short bread.  I didn't have unsweetened choc. (and have NO clue where to find it here) so instead of making their glaze... I just melted sweetened choc. and put it on top of the cookie with some white choc. chips as an accent.  I'm sure the glaze in this recipe would be yummy too.
(I just baked up enough for us each to have 2 or 3 cookies each (I make my cookies small) and saved the rest of the dough in the 'fridge.  That way we have a treat for later and aren't tempted to eat all the cookies at one setting.=)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • CHOCOLATE GLAZE:
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Combine coffee and flour; stir into creamed mixture and mix well. Chill. Shape into 3/4-in. balls and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 18-20 minutes. Meanwhile, for glaze, melt butter and chocolate together. Add melted mixture to sugar along with milk; beat until smooth. Frost cookies while still warm. Yield: 5 dozen.
And as always...ENJOY!

~Mary got a hold of a pencil and did some "modern art" on the green wall in the kids' room.  ={
In this picture she was pointing at her artwork and saying, "No, No!" =)
(Thankfully I was able to get most of it off!)

These poor babies...everyone in the house sitting around writing with a pencil but the minute the baby tries writing on the wall with a pencil, it's 'No! No! No!" Smile.
I do like the fact that the babies catch on pretty quickly that it really IS, "No! No! No!" for writing on the wall.
I like your way of 'serving' cookies to your family, and your way of 'saving' cookies for your family. Love, Mom D

Haha!! That little Mary sounds like she's a trip :o) Doing her art work on the wall. And then to say, "No, no!" I would have to had turned my head and snickered when she said that, I think! And the cookies sound good. I made a shortbread cookie for the holidays that, too, is good!
