~There was a woman, who did not live in a shoe...~

but for 4 hours on Sunday, she had soooo many children she did not know what to do! =)
While we were in Church Sunday morning, Phillip felt that we should invite 4 of our church children (from the same family) over to our house, to reach out to them! They have no real Father-figure in their lives, and they had just had a difficult situation happen in their family this week! So, after church, Phillip quickly asked me if it was ok if they came over for the afternoon. I said that it was ok...but then wondered what I would make for Sunday dinner. Normally I have things all ready to eat, or to just warm up, but with us singing for the revival on Saturday night, I was not home to get things all ready.

So, with our 3, there were 7 kids ages 15 to 3 that came home with us on the PACKED bus. =) With 7 kids running around picking Dandelion puff balls to blow in each other's faces, and picking and eating fruit from the fruit tree we passed, it took us AT LEAST A HALF AN HOUR just to walk the mile home from where the bus dropped us off. =) Finally, we got to the park that is only 4 houses down from our house, (the park that our kids love to go to) and we got a man to snap a picture of "OUR" VERY LARGE FAMILY!

We had a good afternoon with them. God helped me make a quick lunch of meat patties with mushroom gravy, rice (A MUST HERE), buttered noodles, a salad, and fresh pineapple juice to drink. On Saturday, I had made a new recipe called "IMPOSSIBLE PIE", and I was a little nervous as to what it would taste like, but THANK THE LORD it was a very good pie, and was a big hit! While I cooked the kids had a lot of fun playing house, and playing the guitar, the piano, etc. Then after we ate, we had family devotions with them, and then let them see a short video put out by Voice of Marty's called "Stephan's Test of Faith." It's of a Christian boy named Stephan, who was made fun of for bringing a Bible to school. But that night after he dreamed several dreams of Stephan in the Bible, and others that have had to suffer WAY MORE for their faith, in the end...the next day he happily took his stand for Jesus at school. The kids seem to really enjoy their afternoon. They went home, and we ran onto our Sunday night service. We trust that we were able to touch their lives for Jesus!

Your instant humongous family looks like wild fun! Bet you slept well that night.

Hey - here are a few homeade paint ideas until you can find something else...

1. Pudding Finger Paint (edible)
Add food coloring to prepared vanilla pudding, and finger paint on a paper plate.

2. Egg Yolk Paint
Separate the yolk from the white of an egg. Put the yolk in a small cup, and save the white for another use. Mix a few drops of food coloring and 1/4 teaspoon water with the yolk. Make several colors with more yolks. Use a small brush or cotton swab to paint. This paint dries with a glossy finish on paper. It can be used to paint cookies before they are baked.
(We love using Qtips as paint brushes!)

3. Buttermilk or Condensed Milk Paint
Mix drops of food coloring with 1/4 cup buttermilk or condensed milk. This creates pastel colors.

4. Corn Syrup Paint
Mix drops of food coloring with a small amount of corn syrup. Mix in small glass cups to see the translucent colors. This is sticky and glossy. (Sounds horrendous to me!)

These ideas come from a preschool curriculum I love called KidSparkz!

Heather,
Enjoyed your posts. Families ministering together keeps families together. Sometimes people worry about taking children off to some "different" place but it pulls the family together. We found coming to Crandall was the best for our family. Columbia is the best for yours for that is what God has asked. Take courage as you reach out to others. I am sure the children you brought home will never forget!
Love,
Aunt Linda

Does your life slow down ever? I think I will take a day off for you. ha Ministry comes in different shapes and you all are doing a great job. Those kids won't forget their time with you. I've been needing to thank you for posting the capucinno muffin recipe. Thanks for the buttermilk substitute idea. I forget about that and I don't keep buttermilk on hand.
Love, Martha
