~Ministry in sewing~

I have been doing some sewing for some Colombian girls. Jimmy's oldest daughter Lady is so tall and thin that she has a hard time finding skirts, so I decided to make some for her. We went with she and her family to the area that sells material and let her pick out 5 materials and we paid for them and then I made her 5 skirts. I also made 3 skirts each for a couple little girls at our church out of some scraps that I had.
~I fed Jimmy's family and our family lunch before we went to buy the material.~~Here we are all 10 of us in their car heading to get the material. =)~

Sewing is a talent that I am hoping to pick up too. We met a lady by the name of Mrs. Shambers that has a sewing ministry in Hobe Sound , Fl. Our three oldest boys were in her sewing class and dearly loved it! She has everything set up so that missionaries can take it to the field that God has called them to and use it as a ministry. I am hoping to do just that in the future! What an awesome ministry opportunity! may God bless your efforts!

It so nice of you to use your talent for Lady. Isn't is wonderful how our gifts can be used to witness and work for our Lord? Soemthing like sewing seems so meager to us but so touching to others. Keep up the great work you and Philip are doing. We will being praying for you and your missionary work.

You absolutely amaze me with all you do. The skirts are beautiful!

I thought the picture of everyone crammed in the car was comical. But the more the merrier it looked like.

Blessings,
Diane

As always, your sewing results are beautiful! I am sure that Lady appreciates your time and talent!
When I saw the pic of you all STUFFED in the car, I told my husband," See, they don't require seatbelts or carseats in Columbia!" LOL!

Great job Heather! It is wonderful to see how God is using you all. I also have so appreciated how you involve your children so much! What a great lesson for all of us to reach out and let our children learn how to do that as well. God bless!

Wow, you are quite the seamstress! Feel free to come up to Costa Rica any time and put your trade to good use:). Isn't it neat how God uses our natural talents for ministry.

Dear Heather,
I detest making comments on blogs but you working like a fool, shames me if I don't comment on your blog postings, occasionally.
The picture of all of you in that dinky car, the picture of Elijah's head buried under the blanket, and the picture of Elijah 'helping' you sew made me laugh. I would like to be jealous because I can't have you for my seamstress but more than that, I ADORE you for what you are doing for Jesus in Colombia. I may not be the "World's Best Mother-in-law", but I'll tell you this...I am the "World's Happiest Mother-in-law" to have my children working for King Jesus in Colombia.
As the words go to my FAVORITE song that you and your little family sings, "My soul o'er-flows with praise to Jesus Christ, the Saviour...", that is how my heart feels to have you guys working so hard in Colombia.
I love you.

Is it worth it to ship material or do you have to pay a fortune to customs? MFI was donated some beautiful large bolts. Let me know if anyone is coming that direction and send you some or ship it if I need to. I know you would put it to good use.

Hi Heather and all. I'm giggling at the sight of all 10 of you crammed in that little car. We used to do that as teenagers before the seatbelt laws...

If you can imagine, that's how our family of Mom and Dad and 8 children must've looked in our car when we were all in it! They didn't take all of us very often, but we did travel all the way to Oregon one summer...I remember lying on top of our "stuff" which Mom had tried to place evenly along the back seat and then folded up all the blankets and laid them over it all. Then we children had to ride on top of that. Kathy sat up front with Mom and Dad and she and Mom took turns holding the baby, my brother John who was about 7 months old, but the remaining 7 of us were crammed in the back seat. Thank God for two things: we were all skinny, and having to get gas for the car because that's the only time Dad would stop the car. I spent most of my time lying in the back window watching traffic.

How our fellow travelers must have laughed when they saw our car pass by!

I thought this story would entertain you and Phillip. LOL

Oh, what cute skirts you made! And what a sweet way to minister unto others. I love to sew, too, but probably am not as skilled as you are.

I have linked you on my blog. Hope you don't mind! :o)
