In 1992, I went to God's Bible School (GBS) and there I met a WONDERFUL man named Phillip Dickinson. It was not quite, "love at first sight", but close. We started dating and dated for 3 happy years and then got married in the GBS chapel. I remember as a new bride, practicing writing my NEW NAME over and over again, and oh the THRILL it brought. When I said "YES" to him, I had NO IDEA that that would involve selling and storing our things, going to Costa Rica to language school for a year, and then moving to Bogota, Colombia to be missionaries, to tell others about the LOVE OF JESUS! But, God is helping us, and He has met all of our needs. Now Phillip and I have been married for nearly 12 years, and Phillip is my STILL MY VERY BEST FRIEND. God has blessed us with 3 beautiful children and we are Happy serving Jesus here! Even after 12 years when I sign my name and see "DICKINSON", IT STILL BRINGS A SMILE TO MY FACE!
I read this poem this morning, and it made me cry, FOR I AM SO BLESSED!! I'm including a couple stanzas from that poem for y'all to read.
"Ain't got a lot of riches and sometimes the going is rough
But I have a family that loves me, and that makes me rich enough.
I just thank God for his blessings and the mercy he has bestowed
I'm drinking from my saucer, cause my cup has overflowed!
When things went wrong and my faith got a little thin,
Then all at once the dark clouds broke and the SON broke through again.
So Lord help me not to gripe about the tough row I had to hoe
I'm drinking from my saucer, cause my cup has overflowed! (Author Unknown)

The "weeping mother" here again. Your poem made me cry. I just read your blog info to dad, and he said to tell you that you are Number 1. And, that Beth is Number 1 ( I guess that makes me Number 2!-) Speaking of husbands, "If there is anything better than to be loved, it is loving", and they get sweeter as the years go by. I wish I had known when I married dad how much I would love and trust him now.
Love, Mom & Dad D
Dearest Heather, seeing your name still brings a smile to my face too. Isn't it wonderful to still be in love, but much more today than even yesterday! Let's do several more "12s". They'll be better than ever. Yours, Phillip
Just found your blog and really enjoyed it!! I'll be checking often, we enjoy seeing what is going on in your lives!! :-)
I love this picture of you all - so beautiful. I assume I am looking at Bogota in the background.
Que pasen un buen dia en la presencia del Senor!

Heather,
I love your blog. I thought I was looking at it went I went to holyvision.org but I guess I wasn't. Good job. Love, Vonnie
Hey Heather, it was great to find your blog. We recently started one ourselves, and found yours on Marc & Melodie's. I miss you very much, hopefully we can keep in touch through our blogs (this name still cracks me up -- sounds like a failed recipe or something boring, like "blah"). Love you lots, Esther
Chris wants to know if you are still thankful for him? Ha!
Melodie,
Yes, That is beautiful Bogota in the valley behind us. Colombia is beautiful and the food is great. Like you said to us, "Come see us, and we'll treat you!"

Dear Heather,
It is wonderful to still be in love after 12 years isn't it!! We are so blessed to have married the last two perfect men on earth!!! Seriously I thank the Lord all the time for bringing Paul and me together. We love you guys.
Heather, remember when I stopped in at GBS to say hello and you took a few minutes to get downstairs? Your excuse was that you were busy studying music PHIL-osophy!
Nice blog. I'll try to get back from time to time.

Aww. Reading your post reminds me that Robert and I will be married for 11 years in July. I don't think there's anything better than "seasoned" love!
