Pastor Phillip called a church work day, for Saturday, March 21st.
God gave us a beautiful day to work!!
Excitement was in the air, as I sat up the table,
straightened the tablecloth, plugged in the Keurig, and set out the donuts!
Cars started arriving and our people were HERE TO WORK!!!
We started out with a prayer meeting for our Revival, and for our work day, and then we got busy.
Dear Uncle Bill, among other jobs, helped rake up the old dried leaves in the flower garden, and around the front of the church, and he even helped lift the HEAVY sign into place. It was so HEAVY, that I guess everyone around was helping in some way!
{Cousin Laura's shoulder was hurting so she could not come. :-( }
Mr. Dave was a big help working here and there helping with the sign and all!
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Fields brought the beautiful flowers that she so beautifully planted in the flower garden and in front of the new Church sign! Mrs. Fields also helped by dusting the church and helped mop it too.
Kimberly and little Stella could not come. :-(
Chris worked to get the sign ready to put into the ground. He has spent untold HOURS making the gorgeous base for the sign. He made it in the "Timber Frame Style" with wooden pegs! He hand carved the wooden pegs. It is made out of white oak with hickory pegs. He did such a beautiful job making the base.
Phillip was a jack of all trades and ran from one job to another, helping, instructing, helping put in the sign, smoothing the freshly poured concrete, digging out dirt for the flower bed around the sign, pouring new concrete on the step in front of the church, etc. He worked ALL DAY, even after we all left, and got home after Dark.
Noah and Elijah were doing various jobs all day, from digging the DEEP holes for the sign, to mixing up concrete, to running to ACE hardware for more supplies!
Mary was painting, and helping mop the wooden church floors with Murphy's oil soap, and picking up branches, so Elijah can mow on Monday.
Abigail was helping me scrape the paint off the windows inside the church, and helped mop the church floor too, and helping pick up branches.
Yours truly, mainly cleaned the windows in the church, and vacuumed the whole church, plus ran from job to job and ran errands, including picking up the cooler full of drinks the day before, and the donuts for the AM and the pizza for Lunch.
GaryWayne, came just to help! And help he did. He and Mary gave the railing in front of the church and the front door a new coat of paint, and he helped pick up branches.
AND the piano tuner was there also, tuning the old piano.
All and All we had a wonderful day working together on the House of the Lord!
Some man drove slowly by, and yelled out that he had an old house, down the road, that we could all come to work on for him. :-D
We all laughed, and then Mrs. Fields and I said to each other, "We have our own houses down the road that we need to be working on, but we are working on God's house today."
The old wooden floors which have been there for 150 years of worship services...drank up that Murphy's oil soap.
And the windows were glad for their cleaning, and are going to let in more sunshine.
The old White Church was grateful that we all took the time to come and look after it, and I believe that God the Father was pleased with our work.
Now, here are some fun pics!
~As stated above, Chris has spent untold HOURS making the gorgeous base for the Church sign.
